We're back on the island
after an extended break in Lanzarote, and on Thursday afternoon I took
a walk to the top of North Barrule, specifically to take some aerial shots
of the 'Three Legs' arranged from stone just below the summit. I
would normally have walked there from Black Hut via Clagh Ouyr, but unfortunately
the Mountain Road is still closed north of Bungalow for pre TT races repairs,
so instead I walked up from the east side, starting from the Hibernia Road.
It's actually shorter that way, just steeper, and I fitted in a visit to
the B17 crash site on the way up.

On Friday afternoon
we went for a stroll around Ballaglass Glen, mainly to see the bluebells
flowering there before they all vanish for another year.

A train trip from Douglas

on the last train of the day.

There has been a good
display of bluebells flowering on the slopes of Sulby Glen this year, so
yesterday afternoon I set out to try and capture them, using a drone to
get access to angles that wouldn't have been available from ground level.
I also didn't have to get my feet wet trying to cross the river!
The only problem was that the sun decided to hide behind a thin layer of
cloud, which muted the colours a bit.

Yesterday we went to
the excellent Milntown
Cafe for lunch (pre-booking advised!), but arranged our journey to
allow over an hour for wandering around the lovely gardens beforehand.
I'll not attempt to identify any of the plants, I only know a few!
The gardens are maintained by a small team of gardeners, who do a superb
job of growing a wide variety of plants that make a visit worthwhile at
any time of year. Milntown
House is open regularly for organized tours.

Regular visitors to
Island Images might have noticed the total lack of pictures in the April
section. This was because we were away for the whole month on our
latest trip to Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands. On this trip I took
the Mini 2 drone with me and shot quite a lot of panoramas, I've been working
on stitching them since we arrived back and I've now started uploading
them to a separate section a few at a time. There are currently nineteen
360 degree ones and two linear.
Click the image below
to visit the section, or you can find it via the '360
Degree Panoramas' index.

On Friday afternoon
I paid a visit to the delightful locations of Niarby and Traie Vane, mainly
with the intention of obtaining some aerial shots at high tide.
